LOGISTICS, TRANSPORT & SCHEDULING
Modern logistics and transportation networks involve complex, interconnected decisions across routing, scheduling, fleet management, resource allocation and infrastructure utilisation. AngelQ develops advanced quantum and hybrid quantum-classical optimisation algorithms to address these computationally demanding challenges. Our qubit-efficient techniques are designed to tackle large optimisation problems using fewer quantum resources, while integrating with classical optimisation and AI systems. Applications range from multimodal freight transport and maritime logistics to airline operations, maintenance planning and real-time scheduling.

Discuss Your Use CaseMultimodal Transport Optimization - Land & Sea

Global supply chains depend on the efficient coordination of maritime shipping, land transportation, ports and distribution networks. Optimising these interconnected operations requires solving complex routing and scheduling problems involving multiple transport modes, intermediate destinations, delivery deadlines, cargo capacities and operational constraints. AngelQ has developed quantum-enhanced optimisation approaches for integrated transport planning, including transshipment and multimodal logistics networks. By combining qubit-efficient quantum algorithms with classical optimisation techniques, our solutions explore more efficient cargo movements across land and sea, supporting cost-effective, resilient and adaptable supply-chain operations.

Discuss Your Use CaseQubit Efficient Quantum Algorithms for the Vehicle Routing Problem on NISQ Processors

We worked with ExxonMobil to develop and validate next-generation quantum optimization approaches for complex logistics and vehicle-routing problems inspired by real industrial shipping scenarios. Leveraging our proprietary qubit-efficient encoding techniques, we demonstrated the solution of optimization problems involving up to 3964 routes using only 13 qubits—achieving improvements of up to 200-1000x in qubit efficiency compared to conventional quantum approaches. This work, carried out in collaboration with researchers from the Centre for Quantum Technologies and the Technical University of Crete, was executed and validated on quantum hardware from IBM and IonQ, enabling practical hybrid quantum-classical workflows for large-scale industrial optimization across logistics, transportation, mobility, energy, and infrastructure applications.

Discuss Your Use CaseAircraft Engine Maintenance & Swap Optimisation

Aircraft engine maintenance and replacement planning is a complex operational challenge involving fleet availability, maintenance schedules, engine compatibility, regulatory requirements and spare-engine inventories. Airlines must coordinate engine removals, installations and maintenance activities while minimising aircraft downtime and operational disruption. AngelQ applies qubit-efficient quantum optimisation and hybrid scheduling approaches to explore complex aircraft engine allocation and replacement scenarios. Our technology supports the evaluation of alternative maintenance schedules and resource assignments, with the objective of improving fleet utilisation, reducing operational costs and strengthening airline maintenance planning.

Discuss Your Use CaseAir Traffic Management

Air traffic management involves the continuous coordination of aircraft movements across congested airspace, airports and interconnected flight networks. Flight delays, weather disruptions, airspace restrictions and limited airport capacity create highly complex scheduling and routing challenges. AngelQ explores how qubit-efficient quantum optimisation and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms can support flight sequencing, trajectory optimisation, conflict-aware routing and dynamic airspace resource allocation. These approaches aim to improve the efficiency and resilience of air traffic operations while respecting critical safety, separation and regulatory constraints.

Discuss Your Use CaseAirport Gate Assignment Optimisation

Efficient airport operations require the assignment of arriving and departing aircraft to available gates while considering aircraft characteristics, arrival and departure schedules, passenger connections, ground-handling requirements and operational disruptions. Gate assignment is a challenging combinatorial optimisation problem, particularly at busy international airports where frequent schedule changes create additional complexity. AngelQ's hybrid quantum-classical optimisation approaches can support the exploration of improved gate allocation strategies, helping airports and airlines reduce gate conflicts, minimise operational delays and improve the utilisation of airport infrastructure.
